Food displayed on Sweepy still goes stale

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but food when displayed on a sweepy still goes stale, while they can last forever on a pedestal. If sweepy is designed to display items just like a pedestal, shouldn't food on them act the same too?

Steps to Reproduce

Build a sweepy dock and make a sweepy, put sweepy into an environment where food can rot and display any rotable food on sweepy. Its freshness will drop and after a while will rot entirely and fall off.
