Dupes keeps on adding water to Microbe Mushers

I got a sudden food shortage and added a few extra Microbe Mushers to compensate, which for some reason made my dupes go mental. They keep on gathering water, just to deliver it all to already full microbe mushers, most likely deleting the water in the process, to then go fetch more water and  do it all over again. I can't break the loop. I have to give them other high priority work just to stop them from deleting my water reserves.

Update: I managed to break the loop by forcibly ejecting all the contents of the microbe mushers. So now they no longer add ~1000kg of water over and over again. It's back to the normal amounts, and also only when needed.
I did notice that they added water to the musher designated to make lice loaf. That musher still had dirt in it before I ejected the contents.
