Dupes invisible all the time

As per the thread title. The dupes are all invisible.
They are invisible at the initial dupe selection screen and inside the actual game world.

I am not running any ONI-mods and have tried reinstalling, verifying steam files and removing unity.Klei.Oxygen Not Included from Application Support.

The About My Mac graphics section is not very helpful but that is how my videocard identifies itself. Same problem in Windows; It's actually a "EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti FTW Ultra Silent Gaming (08G-P4-6678-KR)".

I'm using the latest available Nvidia Webdrivers, 378.05.05.25f18.

Edit: Removed an unnecessary detail.
I noticed that the player.log that I first uploaded was actually with the slightly older Webdriver 378.05.05.25f17. I reran the game and reproduced the problem with the updated version: the result is the same, no visible dupes.

Steps to Reproduce
Start a new world, difficulty mode does not matter Choose world; type does not seem to matter. Wait for world to be generated, something that takes somewhere around 10-20 seconds. Get to the screen generating the three intitial dupes, notice the preview window has no visible portraits of the dupes. Generating new ones does not generate a visible portrait. Click to embark and enter game world. Dupes are still invisible but marked with arrows underneath. If clicked the detail window opens but there is no visible dupe there either.

User Feedback

Hi, just bought the game on Steam and i have the exact same issue described here.

Clean install, no mods.

Characters ( Dupes ) have no textures loaded, in the main screen nor in game, buildings as well.

Same OS as stated above.

An older Nvidia Web driver ( 378.05.05.25f01 vs 378.05.05.25f18 ) on a GTX 1080 ( different card )

Looking at the Player.log file it does suggest that the game is using some OpenGL instructions / routines that are probably unsupported by the drivers for the Nvidia cards.. on Sierra ( 10.12.6 ), they might work on High Sierra - 10.13.6. ( using 387.10.10.10.40.X drivers )

GL_AMD_vertex_shader_layer is not supported
GL_OVR_multiview2 is not supported

So the options are:

1 - upgrade to High Sierra
2 - get an AMD card ( or run on integrated intel gpu )
3 - the Developer can implement a fallback solution for the case when said shader is not available.

I for one cannot upgrade to 10.13.. got old 32bit software that i need for development..

Let me know if you make this work.

Cheers,

Micky.

I rather not upgrade to 10.13 yet either. Ideally there will be a less intrusive solution or workaround.

I bought the game a long time ago and I do seem to recall not having this issue in a much earlier build of ONI. So I suspect this is an unexpected result of a Unity-engine upgrade, or a regression in the Nvidia drivers.

Found this from two years ago, sadly without any resolution:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/457140/discussions/3/1482109512318365799/

It looks similar and I verified by mining some of the surroundings that it's not just dupes that are invisible; in fact all items like stone, rubble and similar stuff that fall on the ground, are also invisible.

If this is a bug in the driver, can it be worked around in-game? Nvidia does not appear to be investing heavily in the Mac side of it's business...
The driver I'm currently using, 378.05.05.25f18, is the only available driver for the current version of MacOS 10.12.6 build 16G2128.
