Disabled power generators doesn't display their gas content

If I have both of my natural and hydrogen gas power generators running, they produce 1600w which is too much for the standard wires which can only take 1000w, so I have to disable one of them.

However, the gas ventilation system is still pumping gas into the generator, but with it disabled, it doesn't show how full it is.

It would help if either the gas generators showed their tank contents at all times, or, they simply didn't accept gas when disabled and began clogging pipes instead.
