Compiled List Of Possible Bugs (Bottle Filler, Sandbox Mode, Yellow Alert Priority)

SilentSight
  • Branch: Live Branch Version: Linux Pending

Apologies, was not able to provide a log as Ubuntu 24.04 terminal reports that the "~/.config/unity3d/Klei/Oxygen Not Included/save_files" directory does not exist, and so, ironically, the bug report instructions need to be debugged.

Bugs encountered recently during gameplay:

  • A disabled bottler filler still refills bottles and can still be interacted with by Duplicants following the auto-bottle command of a bottle drainer
  • In Sandbox mode, not all materials are shown until they have been dropped as an item on the floor, and not all filters will appear on things like bottle drainers until the item is created; this is especially frustrating as you cannot spawn E.G. bottles containing liquids (I'm pretty sure Sandbox used to show all materials, even unavailable materials; note absence of E.G. Abyssalite and Petroleum from screenshots; plant boxes etc are also affected)
  • Not sure if this is a bug, exploit or an 'intended feature'; you can trap an obnoxiously large number of E.G. Slicksters on a single tile if you isolate them a one mesh tile and have a giant room
  • Ceramic is marked as an insulator but it seems to readily allow heat transfer even as an insulated tile when attached to the bottom of a steam turbine ("INSULATOR definition: 1. a material or covering that electricity, heat, or sound cannot go through"), acting more like a tempshift tile; this causes problems when trying to isolate heat between the steam room and the turbine room above.
  • Even though atmospheric pressure can be in mg and mcg, the Atmos sensor does not support either, only supporting 0.1g (100 mg) at lowest.
  • It is not possible to detect complete vacuum with Gas Element Sensor, as 'None' always triggers red.
  • Timer sensors appear to be FPS dependent and can cause variation in timing if there are bouts of lag; this can be a problem in precision timing setups
  • I've had numerous near miss incidences when rescuing a suffocating trapped Duplicant via the use of the yellow alert priority, as for some reason the system does not prioritise the nearest available and able-bodied Duplicant (even with Proximity enabled in priorities!), and instead seems to just pull the furthest away Duplicant. In one particularly insulting incident, there were 4 Duplicants still doing other digging and construction tasks right next to a Yellow Alert on a single dig task, when finally, the slowest, newest, least capable Duplicant showed up to very slowly mine out a trapped Duplicant who was suffocating in CO2 unable to build a ladder. Can I please have a means to slap the system and say 'no, use this Duplicant right here'? Because the prioritisation algorithm is not up to scratch. It kills me every time to see a comedy skit level of entire groups of Duplicants running past a yellow alert because don't worry, Burt from the opposite end of the base has it all under control!
  • Whatever situation this is (see overly yellow screenshot); pickled mealwood sweep task with 4 Duplicants ignoring a yellow alert next to two fridges with storage capacity also being ignored by the robo-sweepers. Some sort of priority block? Weird quirk? Don't know, game doesn't say anything.
  • For the love of everything please disable Duplicants clapping random achievements when they're responding to a Yellow or Red Alert. No Burt, you don't need to stop to clap the billionth pile of abyssalite you've seen today when Rick is suffocating to death in the carbon pit.
  • Duplicants constantly dropping food on the floor and not being particularly proactive about putting it in the fridge after they've finished cooking it so it turns stale forcing me to always adopt a Hatch in the early game and a kitchen robo-sweeper in the mid-game. Ah, yes, my favourite part about cooking is when I hard drop it on the floor.
  • Sauna doesn't actually specify how much steam it requires; it unhelpfully says "nominal". Nominal what? Temperature? Pressure? Amount? Could there be a measurement of whatever it is that it needs displayed in game so I don't have to spend 23 seconds counting 500 grams per second of piped steam for a rough estimate.
  • Getting ready is similarly vague. For what? A night out on the town? Suggest 'Awaiting steam'. Or maybe lipstick and eyes (see artist's impression, attached).
  • Sauna is lacking a much needed red/green full/empty automation port. Whilst not a bug per se, the thing almost practically demands you manually oversee steam input lest the one pipe that sticks out into the colder world condense into water and break the gas pipe, which in my opinion, is a type of bug.
  • Ice, when sent via conveyor, almost always immediately melts given the small batch sizes they get sent as, there's no 'insulated' variant of conveyor so this results in uncontrollable spillages. I suggest specific items shipped via conveyor have their temperature in stasis until they arrive at their destination? Otherwise it makes it very difficult to set up any automated ice shipping.
  • When Sweepy carries mopped up water in a frozen environment, it can state change into an ice block causing Sweepy to become entombed; he is not automatically rescued by duplicants and his slow movement speed almost always guarantees he never makes it back to his dock in time, resulting in an annoying 'keep rescuing Sweepy' user experience. Again, suggest a similar stasis on temperature when items are held by Sweepy.
  • The game annoyingly messages 'not enough materials' when creating blocks "without enough materials" in Sandbox mode with instant build on; whether or not there's enough materials are irrelevant as it's instant build and instant build ignores materials requirements. Message should be disabled when instant build is on.
  • Am I going crazy or was the ability to spawn materials directly (E.G. mined abyssalite) in Sandbox removed? I can spawn wood but I can't spawn mined ores, which forces me to brush in ores and then waste time having duplicants mine said ores when conducting refinery design tests in Sandbox mode. If it's supposed to be there, it currently isn't and would be a bug.
  • Am I going even crazier, didn't Pitcher Pump also rotate before? It doesn't now. Why does the Bottle Emptier rotate but the Pitcher Pump doesn't? Bug? Me experiencing Madness?
  • When a Duplicant tries to relocate a Cuddle Pip, if the Cuddle Pip is in a hugging spree state and the Duplicant captures it, and then proceeds to pick it up whilst it is trussed, it will trigger the hugging animation. Even though it is trussed. The Duplicant ends up hugging an invisible nothing which is just... creepy. And also a waste of time.
  • Critter removal tool in Sandbox mode doesn't have a size option (defaults always to radius of 6 which isn't helpful if you're trying to eliminate just one critter in a bunch), and it overwrites the other tools' sizes, which is annoying
  • If a Hatch eats an item and the Duplicants kill it before it 'relieves itself', the item and the contents it would have produced get evaporated into nothingness; can also happen rarely in old age if they're both hungry and on the verge of death. Suggest it either drop the item it ate, or its "contents" upon death.
  • Duplicants carrying a trussed critter will drop the critter upon the announcement of meal time; it becomes a problem if they happen to drop it down a ladder shaft where it ends up in a hostile environment and it dies (even more frustrating if it is a creature that is difficult to acquire). Suggest either having the duplicant complete the task or only drop the creature when on solid ground (E.G. not a ladder or fire pole)
  • The game allows for tempshift plates to be made out of ice; but will then flag the user with a red alarm that 'a building has melted' when they unsurprisingly melt. Firstly, it's not a building, it is a background tempshift plate (which is not destructible via buildings option under Deconstruct), secondly, yes, that's what I wanted to happen, please allow me to disable notifications for things made out of ice melting. Those are all the bugs and issues I could recall at this time.

Steps to reproduce included with bug descriptors, however it is N/A for some of the issues. Happy to clarify if needed, just be aware I am busy so might not respond immediately.
