Choppy game, resumes properly after reload

The game randomly starts to be really choppy, "jumps" from screen to screen as I move, The CPU and GPU each run at ~70C. No idea what causes it but whenever I reload the game it works properly for a few minutes. I'm only at 253 cycles and my last playthrough was over 4000 before it became this laggy.
