While attempting to grow a bonbon tree farm in a vacuum, the trunk/tree was growing at a normal rate/temp, but when it came time for the branches growth was halted due to body temperature because the trunk went below -15c. I fixed the trunk temp, but the branches will not adjust to their surroundings without an atmosphere.
Trunk temperature seems like it can change from the environment it comes in contact with, and a trunk who's growth was halted below -15 continued when the temperature reached the correct range, but the branches cannot/will not adjust their temperature in a vacuum, resulting in either re-introducing an atmosphere to fix the affected branches, or digging up and replanting the tree.
I re-introduced 2kg of cold Oxygen and watched the branch temp finally change from -14.6 to above the minimum required of -15. I think the biggest confusion for me was seeing the growth halted due to body temp, but when I looked at the details for the tree it showed an acceptable temp. It wasn't until I got into the temperature overlay that I could view the branch temperatures which were too warm.
I'm not sure if that's expected behavior, or if maybe there is some way to make the branch temp at least displayed as an issue with halting growth.
- Grow a Bonbon tree on a natural tile in a vacuum.
- Allow temperature to increase above allowed growth requirements.
- Cooling tree trunk by lowering temperature of surrounding objects (natural tile) will bring the trunk to allowed growth requirements (below -15c), but the branches will not cool without an atmosphere.
