PS Vita remote play control icons

I have tried remote play on PS Vita from PS4 and while the controls work fine all the control icons and prompts show as "a£E" instead of whichever button should be there which makes it difficult to play. I have the base version of Don't Starve on PS4 due to cross buy from the Vita version. I tried reinstalling but it was the same. I was considering getting DLC not available on Vita so would be interested to know if this issue persists or if it only affects the vanilla version for whatever reason.
