This crash was previously reported here and was marked as fixed, but it is still present as of the current beta.
Getting the Iron Hulk boss into an interior, such as the Slanty Shanty or an ancient Pig Ruin, before killing it will crash the game with the error in the attached screenshot.
While I verified its existence using console commands, one could do this legit by building a Telelocator focus indoors and then using the Telelocator staff on the Large Iron Hulk after starting the fight.
It may be worth tweaking the Iron Hulk's behavior to avoid teleporting outside the walls of an interior, in the rare event someone is ludicrous enough to actually attempt this boss fight in the tight indoor space after this is fixed - Otherwise it often gets stuck outside the walls and just becomes an eternal noise machine in your home.
No mods were enabled during my test, although I did have a few UI mods installed on my system.
Without console commands:
- Build and charge a Telelocator Focus inside an interior (A Slanty Shanty room will do, but it could also be done in an ancient pig ruin or even a shop.)
- Craft a Telelocator Staff.
- Assemble the Iron Hulk pieces to initiate the boss fight.
- Once the Large Iron Hulk has assembled, use the Telelocator Staff on it to teleport it away.
- Return to the focus.
- Kill the Large Iron Hulk, if possible amidst its teleportation which often occurs outside the walls.
- The game should now crash.
With console commands:
- Use c_godmode(), c_speed(10) and c_revealmap() to make it easy to prepare for the fight
- Find your way to an interior
- Use c_give("nightsword") or similar to acquire a weapon to kill the Iron Hulk with
- Use c_spawn("ancient_hulk") with your mouse within the interior walls to spawn the Large Iron Hulk
- Kill the Iron Hulk, use c_gonext("ancient_hulk") to lock onto it if it gets stuck out of bounds
- The game should now crash.
A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.
