FMOD has trouble with linux sound cards

umbra3275
  • DLC VERSION - IMPORTANT!: Vanilla - NO DLC, Reign of Giants, Shipwrecked, Hamlet Pending

When I open the game, there is no sound playing, and in the settings, sound is locked to 0. When I change it and apply, then leave the settings and re-enter, it's 0 again. Checking the log file, FMOD is saying `FMOD Error: Error initializing output device.`, so it looks like an FMOD problem, but I'm posting this here because this hasn't been an issue with other games that use FMOD. Celeste works fine, and even ONI and DST work fine. All play audio perfectly. Don't Starve (singleplayer) is an outlier here.

Steps to Reproduce

Start game, check settings, sound is 0. Change sound, hit apply, exit settings, re-enter settings, sound is still 0.

User Feedback

That is because. Most of Linux distros default to using pipewire. Try to remove pipewire-pulse. Then install pulseaudio. Make pulseaudio as default sound server.
