finishing epilogue doesn't take me back to sandbox mode

I've been playing adventure mode, and I've made it through the other chapters without any bugs, but after I chose to free Maxwell, the game didn't take me back to survival mode. My character switched to Maxwell but I'm still in the epilogue chapter and stuck on this screen. I can't click on anything and reloading the save didn't work either. I've deactivated all my mods, is there anything I can do to fix this?
