Extremely unusual world generation in Hamlet

Emma Heart
  • DLC VERSION - IMPORTANT!: Hamlet Pending

Hi Klei Team,

I think I may have found a world‑generation issue in Don’t Starve on Xbox Series X — or maybe I just discovered the rarest seeds in the universe

In Hamlet, I generated a world on full default settings, and something very strange happened:

- There is no Pig City at all.

- The yellow “civilized” biome is broken into small scattered fragments.

- The place where the city should be is replaced by a Dead Forest biome.

- The world contains three separate Deep Jungle (red) biomes, which I believe should not be possible.

- There is also a Foggy Jungle in a location where it normally shouldn’t spawn.

- Ancient Pig Sentinels spawned extremely close to the starting area.

- Overall, the world looks like a “corrupted Hamlet seed”.

The game is still playable (surprisingly!), but the missing city makes the Hamlet progression impossible in the intended way.

I’m not sure if this is a known issue, but I wanted to share it because it seems like the world generator skipped the entire city and duplicated dangerous biomes instead.

Steps to Reproduce

Platform: Xbox Series X

Game: Don’t Starve – Hamlet

Character: Willow

World Settings: All Default

DLC: Hamlet enabled only

Steps to Reproduce:

Launch Don’t Starve on Xbox Series X.

Start a new Hamlet world (only Hamlet).

Select Willow as the character.

Leave all world generation settings on Default.

Generate the world and load into Day 1.

Explore the starting island and surrounding jungle biomes.

Observed Result:

The Pig City does not generate at all.

The city biome is replaced by a Dead Forest biome.

Three Deep Jungle biomes generate adjacent to each other in unnatural layout.

Ancient Herald/Sentinel spawns extremely close to the starting area.

Overall world layout appears corrupted / collapsed compared to normal Hamlet generation.

Expected Result:

A Pig City should generate on the starting island.

Biome layout should follow standard Hamlet worldgen patterns.
