when playing on Microsoft surface pro the screen size problems

when I run DST on my new Microsoft surface pro 11th addition the game boots in the top right corner in about a 3 by 4inch window. In order to modify the graphics settings to fill the full screen i have to run it on its largest size setting. when on the largest setting the map has major graphics issues that make it unusable. I returned the window size to the 3 by 4 and the map returns to normal. I did have the game in full screen mode the entire time and tried setting the size to make it full screen and then restarting the game, this did nothing.
