Unable to progress Lunar Siphonator quest - No blueprint from Wagstaff

Dear Klei Support Team,

I am writing to report a persistent and frustrating issue that is preventing me from progressing with the Lunar Siphonator questline in Don't Starve Together.

The problem first started in my regular survival world. Upon reaching the Moonstorm event for the very first time, Wagstaff did not provide me with the blueprint for the "Incomplete Experiment" (Lunar Siphonator recipe). Without this blueprint, I am unable to advance this part of the game's progression.

To troubleshoot this, I have since tried the following steps in multiple new worlds, using various mods and console commands to accelerate the game and reach the Moonstorm event quickly. However, in every single instance, Wagstaff still failed to drop or grant me the necessary blueprint.

I have also attempted to bypass this issue using various methods:

  • My console is functional, as I can successfully activate creative mode and other basic commands (e.g., c_godmode()).
  • I tried to directly grant myself the blueprint using console commands like c_give("moon_altar_blueprint") but this command doesn't work.
  • I attempted to craft the Lunar Siphonator directly while in creative mode, but the recipe was not available/learned.
  • I tried using a Steam Workshop mod, "Too Many Items," which allows access to all items and recipes. Even with this mod active and in creative mode, I could not find or craft the "Incomplete Experiment" blueprint or the Lunar Siphonator.
  • As a last resort, I even attempted to manually inject the command TheWorld.components.worldprogression:UnlockCelestialChampionReward() into the player_common.lua script (within the MakePlayerCharacter function, after local inst = CreateEntity()) by extracting game files. However, this caused the game to crash on the loading screen, indicating the command itself might be outdated or the execution context was incorrect. I have since reverted all file changes.

This issue is present across all my game saves and worlds, preventing me from experiencing a significant portion of the game's content. It seems to be a deeper problem that prevents the game from activating this specific progression.

Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and support.

Steps to Reproduce
  1. Launch Don't Starve Together.
  2. Create a new Survival world.
  3. Advance in the game to trigger the first Moonstorm event.
  4. Observe Wagstaff's arrival during the first Moonstorm.

Expected Result: Wagstaff should provide the player with the "Incomplete Experiment" blueprint (Lunar Siphonator recipe) or the recipe should be learned automatically.

Actual Result: Wagstaff appears but does not provide the "Incomplete Experiment" blueprint. The blueprint/recipe is never learned, preventing progression in the Lunar Siphonator questline. This issue persists across all new worlds and attempts to use console commands (c_give("moon_altar_blueprint") or mods ("Too Many Items" in creative mode) to obtain the blueprint have failed.

User Feedback

Hey, sorry if that doesn't help with the problem on the fundamental level but from brief googling I found out that the prefab of the structure you are looking for (which is called Incomplete Experiment specifically not Lunar Siphonator) is "moon_device_construction1" and not "moon_altar". I'm on the phone right now and can't open the game to confirm it but can you try the following commands instead via console: c_give("moon_device_construction1_blueprint") instead? Or c_spawn ("moon_device_construction1") with your mouse cursor over the lunar energy in the middle of the lunar altar triangle? Could also try c_gonext("moon_device_construction1_blueprint") in the world where you went to the moon storms and encountered Wagstaff, to double check if you received the blueprint but didn't see where it dropped and possibly left it behind. Also: does he still drop you the blueprint for astroggles when you approach him in the moonstorm for the first time? You need to stand directly next to him and wait for him to say the line, then he usually caughs up the blueprint. He used to be able to do it repeatedly every time moonstorm moves to a different biome and you find him again, so I would not learn astroggles for a long time and get a spare blueprint every time I enter moonstorms for extra papyrus supply.

Also, when using "Too many items" mod or simply console, try to turn on "Freecrafting" mode (c_freecrafting()) and search "Incomplete Experiment" in your crafting menu - it should be available to craft without learning the blueprint or having the materials.
