Unable to give food to Mutated Merm

So, i am playing Wurt and got myself a buch of Mutated Merms during de Celestial Champion fight, those merms returned to my main base at the end of the fight. The issue is that now they dont accept any tipe of food and therefore i cannot befriend the Mutated Merm. At first i assumed it was intended behavior but then i saw the Mutated Merms eat food from the ground. Befriending nearby regular Merms or using the comunal kelp feeder dosent trigger any response either
