Unable to Download new DST update

I was able to play DST prior to the notification for an update but when I started the update, it never completes, it automatically pauses. It says: 1.98Gb of 1.98Gb downloaded but pauses and will not resume no matter how many times I ask it to. When I right click on the game and say Browse Local files it shows that there is no complete file downloaded. The error message is: The application “dontstarve_steam” can’t be opened." I have followed every troubleshooting guide (restart computer, uninstall game and reinstall, clear download cache, change download server location, etc) to no avail. I can't check the file integrity because it says the file download is incomplete. I could really use some help. I followed all the instructions on the Steam server and they said I needed to contact the developer of the game, Kiel. I have plenty of room on my MacBook Pro and it is all updated software-wise as well. I don't understand why. was able to play one day and not the next. Would love some help. Will follow any set of suggestions that are provided. Thanks.

I think I found it. when you browse local files you will get a "don't starve together steam" or smth. just delete it and try download the game. worked for me cuz I checked what was in that stuff and there were mods and mod helping stuff. I guess the new update not supporting mods or the mods you should be updated for the new update. I MAY be wrong but that's at least smth I could find
