Typing window causes controller to malfunction

When given the opportunity to type / name anything, my (ps4) controller will become unusable (upon the window closing). I will still have the ability to move directionally, but that is all. Even upon swapping to keyboard within settings, the ability to rotate the screen via Q & E disappears / malfunctions once the controller bug is experienced.
Whenever I am given the typing window that accompanies a sign, or the new *name* function of the kitcoon collar, this happens. 
Usually I can *randomize* the typing to avoid this issue, but it appears I cannot do that work around with the new collar. I typically shut down and restart the server to resolve this issue.
