Trees not falling

Ok so i was chopping down a tree and after 15 hits it dropped logs and spawned some snakes but did not animate the falling. I was confused at first and thought that I had chopped another tree, so I went to chop down it again and it just said "Examine Jungle Tree" as if it was a stump. I examined it and Wilson said "Take that nature!" just like he had chopped it. 

Later it got lit of fire and dropped ashes. Im not sure if this happens to more than one person or just me, but it was confusing as hell.
