Steam inventory won't update (show new item drops) unless I hide it and then unhide it in my user settings

Sometimes when I get a new item, it won't appear in my Steam inventory. I may wait for hours to no avail. But if I hide my inventory in my Klei Account settings and then unhide it, all the items appear in my Steam inventory instantly. Is this a known issue/is it intended?
