Skins not working, Clean Sweeper resets owned skins

First of all, I apologize if there are any communication issues - English is not my native language. When entering the server (either solo or with my friend), my skins don’t load properly. When I craft an item and select a specific skin, it always appears as the default version instead. Also, when I use the clean sweeper, it resets everything to default skins instead of cycling through the ones I own.

I’ve already tried:
-Verifying game files in Steam;
-Opting out of all beta branches;
-Creating a new world with no mods (issue still persists);
-Running both Klei health check links that I found on the forums, both returned "OK";
-Re-logging into my Klei account

This problem first appeared in a modded world, but now it happens in all worlds, including completely clean ones.  I’ll attach two logs, from the world where the issue first appeared (it was modded). And from a fresh world with no mods, where the issue continues. My friend who plays with me on the same server has no issues - all their skins load correctly. However, sometimes when my friend plays as Wanda, she spawns as Wilson without any items, as if entering the server for the first time. Anyways, If you need me to provide any other files or additional information, I’ll gladly do it - I just really want to figure out what’s causing this

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Steps to Reproduce
  1. Launch Don’t Starve Together on steam
  2. Create a new world (with or without mods)
  3. Enter the world as the host
  4. Select a character to play
  5. Observe that the character’s skin does not save, even though the items appear and are displayed correctly
  6. Select and craft an item with a custom skin.
  7. Observe that the crafted item appears with the default skin, not the selected one.
  8. Use the Clean Sweeper on the item
  9. Observe that item retains defualt skin and if it was an item with the skin it reverts to default

User Feedback

1. Check if the same mistake occurs in other languages, since if the game is in English, this reskin error does not occur, and you can change it to the desired one. It could be a translation error when reskinning the skin, which prevents it from changing and mantaining the normal skin.
2. Maybe a mod is causing the error, whether through skins that come from mods or a mod causing the error due to the difference in language ( server mods can cause the issue, or even personal ones).
3. If the issue still persists, I would uninstall and reinstall it once again and try my luck.

1. I’m already playing in English, my native language is not available in the game. The issue still happens in English.

2. I already tested in a completely clean world with no mods at all, and the issue still persists.

3.Thank you for the suggestions! I’ll try a full reinstall after work and will come back with the results as soon as possible.

I hope your issue got fixed and hopefully with time, Klei entertainment translates the game to more languages.

Update:
I reinstalled the game completely, but now I get the error “Item Collection Download Failed” when I try to open my itm collection.
I tried downloading several times, but it always fails.

It's just a theory and sorry for the late response, maybe the files containing the information are were they are not supposed to be, check the location of "data/anim" in DST files and also the data that has been transferred through your Klei ID, there's probably a connection error somewhere between those lines. And if does not work, maybe ask Klei for support about the issue.

Thanks for the reply! You really don’t have to apologize - you’re in no way obligated to help me, and I really appreciate it.
I checked the files in the data/anim folder, and everything seems to be in the right place. I’m not entirely sure what exactly I was supposed to look for there, but there are a bunch of .zip files as expected.
I also reached out to Klei Support, and they confirmed that the issue should be reported here on the bug tracker.

Somehow, everything started working again on its own. I didn’t change or reinstall anything new. I checked the game after every single step before, and it was still broken. Today I just launched my PC, started the game, and suddenly all skins load and work correctly again.

I’m not sure what exactly fixed it, so I’ll keep an eye on it in case the issue returns.
Thank you everyone who took the time to respond and try to help me!
