If it is infected by a gestalt, it will disappear, but its shadow will remain. It cannot be mutated, for example, on the Moon Island, only during lunar hail, where its texture disappears during the mutation animation.

Check the puffin during the lunar hail and its ability to mutate it elsewhere like lunar island or moonstorm
