PS4 Controller not recognized

I'm trying to play Don't Starve and Don't Starve Together with a PS4 controller on Mac. It works in other Steam games, and it has worked in both DS and DST before, but a few weeks ago I started DST up and it wouldn't recognize the controller at all. Stopped working in DS as well. I can enter the Steam controller menu while in-game but not actually use the controller in DST or DS itself.
