Please Help -- DST will not launch (error text included)

Hello. Today I am unable to play Don't Starve Together at all. I've been playing it since 2015. Here's a rough timeline of events that led to today's malfunction:
 
- Dec. 2015: I started with DST Beta
- 2016: I hosted servers regularly with no issues on my Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro laptop (i7, 16gb RAM, Win10), including many random multiplayer games and playing with my roommate, who used his desktop computer in the same room as me.
- Jan. 2016: My roommate and I start to have problems because he is suddenly unable to join the server I'm hosting. It was a world we both had been playing for months. After trying to join 4 times, he finally got in and we played.
- Feb/March 2016: We follow the same pattern, where my roommate has to attempt to join 3 or 4 times before it finally lets him in. We are uneasy, but glad that at least we can play. I experience the same scenario with online players who I had worked on other worlds with. They had to join multiple times. Sometimes it would work if I started the world, exited, then started a second time, plus the online users making multiple join attempts. We could always get it to work eventually.
- April 2016: Upon the game's full release, I totally lost the ability to have anyone join any server that I hosted. This includes my roommate, in addition to several Steam friends who used to join my servers in the past. Everyone sees the message "Server not responding". No one can join. 
 
- May 7, 2016: After many exhaustive attempts to get anyone to join any of my servers -- including me generating multiple brand new world a couple of weeks after the full release -- I finally give up and accept that my game is broken. I decide to uninstall via Windows Control Panel, restart my laptop, then come back to Steam.
 
I reinstalled the game today. When I try to launch, however, I receive the error message below.
 
Please help me out if you can think of anything I can try. I really just want to relax on a Saturday and play this game. Thanks in advance for anything you can do. -Jeff

Steps to Reproduce
I'm not sure how to reproduce this on someone else's machine because of the unique chain of events that led up to it.
