Offline Co-op Progress Lost

NewYorkCold
  • Pending

Platform: PS5 (Console)

Game Mode: Offline World (local co-op, no PS Plus)

Version: Most Recent Version as of April 12, 2026

Description: My friend and I have been playing Don’t Starve Together on an Offline world (local split-screen). And the survivor progress is not being saved correctly — inventory, map exploration, and character choice are being deleted between sessions.

When we rejoin the world, my friend is forced to pick a new character every time. His previous survivor progress is completely gone (inventory, map, position). The world itself still saves fine for me as host, but my client survivor data is no longer persistent.

This was not an issue before the update. We have closed and reopened the game countless times in the past month, and my character progress always saved until now.

Summary- The normal expected result when I close the game is that the non-host survivor progress should be saved and restored when rejoining an Offline world (as it worked before the update), however actual result is the non-host survivor progress resets every session.

Additional Notes:

One account doesn't have PS Plus, so Online worlds aren’t an option.

This issue makes long-term Offline play impossible for us.

Please confirm if this is a known bug and if a fix is planned.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create an Offline world on PS5 (local co-op, second player joins).

2. Play and make progress as non-host.

3. Close the world and return to main menu.

4. Reload the Offline world and try to rejoin as the second player.

5. Non-host is asked to select a new character instead of loading saved progress.

Expected Result:
Non-host survivor progress should be saved and restored when rejoining an Offline world (as it worked before the update).

Actual Result:
Non-host survivor progress resets every session.

User Feedback

Yea it seems like this has been a problem for a while, based on some other posts. I really liked the game but if this issue persists and they don't acknowledge the problem or fix it I'm probably done. It's not worth the hastle of dealing with it.
