There appears to be a bug involving fertilising knobbly trees with the intent of letting them grow into above-average trees, and staying in the caves.
After enriching a knobbly tree with tree jam when it has 3 flowers(3 times enriched before), it will normally grow into an above-average tree after the timer for the last enrichment runs out (from the top of my head this would be called "enriched_cooldown").
However, this process is disrupted if the player applies the fourth and final tree jam to the knobbly trees, and then migrates to the caves, and subsequently stays in the cave for the full duration of the enrichment cooldown.
In other terms, if you have stayed in the caves long enough after applying the final tree jam to your knobbly tree, it will not have grown into an above-average tree upon returning to the surface; Instead, it will be reverted to its third enriched state, as if the final tree jam had never been applied.
I have witnessed this bug happening on a private world, but also on a public dedicated server.
I am not sure how this scenario will play out with multiple people on the server; it may not occur if one player stays in the cave and another player stays on the overworld during the full duration of the enrichment cooldown timer.
In the next section I will add screenshots to demonstrate the bug occurring(however the screenshots won't give obvious indication of the bug ocurring)
! This can only be reproduced on a dedicated server, with remote access to the master server console !
The reason for this is that you will need to remotely send a command to the master server, while having your player be present in the caves at the time of running the command.
This can easily be obtained if you run the dedicated server on your own system, because the remote console will be accessible by default.
First, enter the game and use commands c_godmode() and c_freecrafting;
Locate the nearest body of water and crass a grass raft, a torch, and a gunpowder;
Use command c_spawn("oceantreenut") and make sure to point your mouse at the edge of the grass raft you're standing on;
Drop gunpowder and ignite it, so that the boat will break and drop the knobbly tree seed in the water;
Run command LongUpdate(2400);
Craft a stack of tree jams and apply tree jam on the knobbly tree untill it has reached its first enriched state.
Run command LongUpdate(2400);
Apply another tree jam to the knobbly tree(second enrichment);
Run command LongUpdate(2400);
Apply another tree jam to the knobbly tree(third enrichment);
Run command LongUpdate(2400);
(One of the screenshots refer to this point in time. Being day 21 winter and standing next to a knobbly tree with 3 flowers)
Apply the fourth and final tree jam to the knobbly tree (final enrichment)
Run command c_gonext(cave_entrance);
Craft a pickaxe, mine the plugged sinkhole and enter the caves.
(one screenshot depicts the player standing in the caves on day 21)
When in the caves, go to the program that renders the master server and enter the following command:
c_skip(5)*
(please refer to the included image to better understand what I mean to say with remote console);
Return to the surface and apply command c_gonext("multiplayer_portal"); this is just to have an easier time finding your knobbly tree back.
Also make sure to run c_godmode() ;
Walk to the knobbly tree that you have enriched four times.
The tree should have grown into an above-average tree, but it has reverted to its third enriched state(three flowers).
The screenshot shows the same knobbly tree that has been enriched 4 times, yet on day 26 it has not grown above-average, but rather it has reverted to a knobbly tree with 3 enrichments.
*This command does not work when running it from in-game while standing in the cave; it will only skip time in the caves. Therefore it is needed to be able to remotely send a command to the master server in order to make sure that the overworld also skips 5 days.
Otherwise there will not pass enough time on the overworld for the enriched timer to run out.
It is possible to reproduce without the remote master console, but you will have to wait out about 45 minutes before being able to verify this.
Please let me know if more information or log files are required to be able to better understand and solve this!
Because I have not encountered a critical error, I shall not include the client_log.txt file. Please tell me if this is still necessary to include!
