I'm honestly not sure if this is a DST issue or a windows one, but for some reason DST seems to be the only game I have that won't do as told when I use my windows app volume and device preferences to tell the application where to output it's sound (there doesn't seem to be a setting for this in game either). No matter what it sends to default, even when I tell it to go to certain speakers or through a virtual sound board or cable. No matter what it uses default settings.
On windows 10 right click your sound icon on the task bar. Go to "Open Sound Settings". Scroll to "Advanced sound options" and click "App volume and device preferences". Find "Don't Starve Together" and change the output from "default" to your preferred output device in the drop down box in the output column. The setting will appear to have worked, but does not.
