Game is freezing a lot

When I start don't starve it is mostly normal until I press host game or try to join a world. Then the game freezes and will stay like that for maybe 30 seconds until i can see anything, the weird part though is that if i press f12 to take a screenshot the game goes normal for maybe 3 seconds and then freezes again. It sometimes also works when pressing alt and tab and then press it again so i get back to the game but this only works sometimes so it appears to be some bug with the graphics or something because it is just the screen that is broken, the rest of the game is normal what i know. I have no mods enabled and this makes the game completely unplayable and I have tried, restarting the game, reinstalling the game, changed location of the game to my ssd from my hdd, verified integrity of files and even updated to the beta and it still doesn't work. There is the same problem for don't starve. This happened maybe 1 month ago and i don't know how to solve it and don't know how to reproduce it.
