Game crashes when other player joins your server on arch linux

I am on Arch linux. I start up Don't Starve Together. I host a World which worked fine on windows with the same mods. The World works perfectly fine. A player tries to join. The world halts and eventually I get sent back to the title screen. Rebooting doesn't help. I tried with another player so it's a problem on my end.

edit: a newly created game works. maybe the reason is that I created the game on windows and then hosted in on linux.

edit: doesn't matter where the game was created.
