Trying to run the game on linux result of it immediately closing down. I am running the latest steam beta.

Side note: I had to install an extra package (libcurl3-gnutls:i386) to have it start properly. I run a 64bit system, so  the base package was installed. Would it be possible for the basic launcher to check if the dependencies are met?

Steps to Reproduce
Launch the game? Not quite sure.

User Feedback

Exactly the same problem. Still no solution. I could resolve the libraries (libcurl-gnutls.so and *crypt*.so) but this one can hardly be investigated by us. To Klei's dev: an answer would be welcome, we don't even know if someone is looking at it...

I believe klei's stance on this is that it is a valve/steam problem. Which is silly, as I play plenty other game with the steam api with no issue.

For some reason, the game cannot detect steam running when using the latest beta of the steam client. I hope it gets resolved before whatever changed in the steam client goes into the stable channel. Meanwhile, I still can't play.

WORKAROUND FOUND!
I just discovered an important thing: it fails with Steam beta only. If switching back to Steam "normal", the game is launching...

(This is still an issue if you need beta for some other game but serves as workaround probably for many of us).
