Don't Starve Together unable to launch on Steam (Windows 10)

I thought I'd get back into DST by roping some friends into playing it, but when I tried to launch the game, it didn't open.
Any time I try to launch it, I get a moment of steam displaying the green "running game" text, before it immediately stops, as if I'd never opened the game at all. I don't get an error message, and I don't ever see DST appear in task manager, either - it's as if genuinely nothing is happening when I try to launch the game.
I've been scouring the internet for fixes, and so far, none have worked. Here's a list of common solutions that I've tried up to this point:

  • everything on the Klei Dont Starve Together Troubleshooting Guide
  • I have verified the integrity of the game files on steam, there seems to be no issue there. I have also tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as manually deleting the game files and then verifying them, to see if that changes anything.
  • it most likely isn't mods, as I uninstalled them all in preparation for playing the game fresh after a long time away. I've made sure the mods folder in the game itself is completely empty (aside from the 4 files there by default), and I've made sure the mods section in the Documents\Klei folder is empty as well. client_log.txt is also completely clear of any text or message relating to any mod, as far as I can tell.
  • speaking of the Klei folder, a common issue people seemed to have is corrupted logs. None of my logs seem to fit the bill, but just in case, I completely deleted the contents of the folder, and allowed them to generate again by attempting to run the game.
  • I restarted steam, restarted my computer, restarted steam again, and uninstalled and reinstalled DST a couple times throughout for good measure. I made sure my GPU drivers were up to date, that my CPU drivers were up to date, that windows was up to date, and made sure to check if VCRedist and DXRedist were up to date by running vcredist_x86.exe and DXSETUP.exe respectively.
  • I don't have an AMD GPU, which seemed to cause issues for some people. I went into the settings for my GPU and ensured that DST was running using my graphics card, and attempted toggling a couple options such as anti-aliasing, which some people pointed out as a potential cause. I also attempted to run DST as an admin, and tried launching it in compatibility mode for both windows 7 and windows 8, to no avail.
  • I made sure that DST was indeed allowed through the firewall, and that there was an exception for it in my antivirus.
  • I tried launching the 32-bit version, as well as opting into the beta, which both failed to launch in the same way.

Looking at the log files (and the game *is* generating a new log file every time I try to launch the game), I'm not seeing any error messages.
It's exactly the same each time, and nothing specifically jumps out at me...
