Death counter running on load

i was playing in my world, i was on day 150, and i died in the caves, and i remembered that there was a revive in my base, so i clicked to leave the caves and after a while the message appeared that my world was being reset, and i couldn't do anything and i didn't even have a backup.

the counter should be paused when the game is paused, this is common in other games.
