Can't Join/Host Servers, All Saved Games Deleted - XBOX

I'm trying to play with my brother, but we have these two reoccurring issues. First, I was asked to save either to console or cloud, then forced to re-agree to the EULA. After that, my saved games were entirely wiped. My brother had the same thing happen to him. This has now happened to both of us twice and we keep having to restart old and established worlds. Also, we tried for two hours tonight just to let me join a new server he created - I go to the server, click to join, it loads for a moment, shows the backdrop, then crashes me to the home page. Usually when this happens we can restart and it works fine, but we couldn't make it work today. We tried resetting our xboxes, hard resetting, then I tried uninstalling/reinstalling, everything. Network is not only good, but great on both ends, and both xbox servers AND Klei servers are up. I can't play a game that deletes my progress every two seconds then won't even let me play with others when it's a game ABOUT playing with others. I'm really upset to have lost everything.
