Can't drop items in multiplayer

Around day 14 after no issues, suddenly the server host is unable to drop or place or plant items... affects the other player who joins also but intermittently. 

Steps to Reproduce

Just dragging items out of inventory -- unable to drop or do anything left or right click after.

I am having the same problem even playing on my own. It's super frustrating and makes me not want to play the game anymore.
