a grass gekko not scared by player

I'm not sure what caused it, i was just running around preparing for a ruins rush collecting as many resources as i could. Saw the grass gekkos so i scared them to get grass, and one of them just continued to sleep. I was playing on pc, and had everything on default for a wilderness world.
