The important thing: hammering support pillars seems glitched.
Firstly, for the first 10 swings, the pillar can randomly drop rocks, but opening the ‘build’ widget shows that it needs just one more rock. Providing it with such does indeed restore it to the fully repaired state.
Second, as can be seen in the screenshot above, the pillar has switched to its ‘very broken’ anim, and I’m led to believe this is meant to be reserved for when it’s taken more damage. Mostly because hammering it again changes it to a ‘medium damage’ anim, as seen below.
Third, opening the build widget keeps shows a 39/40 rocks count. It seems to ‘actually’ need more rocks. After 17 swings, I opened the widget, put in 1 rock (to seemingly get 40/40), and the next time I opened the build widget it showed I was at 33/40 rocks. I was also able to go from 39/40 to 47/40, and close the widget to get no rocks back, suggesting that the number is just wrong the first time I open it.
Fourth: someone’s already mentioned this, but earthquakes happening to a fully repaired pillar make it go invisible.
Fifth, it also renders the pillar un-rebuildable. Of course, the pillar isn’t rebuildable anyway for the first ten hammer swings, but even after that the build action disappears with an earthquake. Resetting the server fixes this. (I did trigger these earthquakes artificially by making a console-spawned Wickerbottom read Lux Aeterna Redux, FWIW.)
Lastly, when I hammered the pillar all the way down, it disappeared with a little explosion sound as structures so often do. Except it didn’t actually disappear. It seems it remained invisible but physically present, blocking space and everything. I was able to hammer it one more time using keyboard to destroy it for real.
Other things
- The pillar changes colour a bit between broken and non-broken states. Is that intentional? (I think it looks a little weird.)
- Recipe descriptions seem to be missing for the Coaching Whistle and Thermbell
- Oh I was gonna ask if you meant to name the ‘Void Kit’ ‘Void Repair Kit’. Seems like that question’s answered itself.
Cheers!
Hammer pillars to get free rocks for the first ten swings. Afterward, open the build widget to see numbers acting weird. Earthquakes make the pillar weirder still, and destroying it with a hammer fakes you out.
A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.
