Merms Guards that you have hired and turned lunar when quits will not go back to their houses like how merms and pigs eventually do, instead they will wander around endlessly, and eventually the merm guard house will make new merms instead.
Steps to Reproduce
1. Hire merm guards by giving food that merms can only eat (Fruits/Veg)
2. Give hired merm guards moon glass so it becomes lunar merm guards
3. Wait until the loyalty timer reaches zero
4. After that the lunar merm guards will just wander around forever
5. Wait a few in game days and the merm guard houses will produce new merm guards
