Local Mod Exploit Allows Extremely Fast Sliding Movement

As shown in the video, simply subscribing to this mod and pressing its hotkey allows players to move at an extremely fast sliding pace in public servers, without requiring admin privileges.


I do not understand how this exploit works, but it severely ruins the gameplay experience for all other players in multiplayer lobbies. I hope the developers are made aware of this mod and investigate the underlying bug it abuses.

 

 

Steps to Reproduce
  1. Subscribe to the targeted mod.https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3698223879
  2. Join a public server and press the custom keybind set by the mod.
  3. Move to trigger the glitch movement.

I shouldn't even need to explain how pointless this is.

From simply just looking at their history, Klei fixes bugs that aren't influenced by mods.

I don’t see it that way. This is an exploit within the base game.This is a client-side mod, not a server-side mod. It only lets players take advantage of a pre-existing flaw in the vanilla game.The core issue that needs fixing is the base game bug, not the mod itself.


Furthermore, this mod has severely ruined the multiplayer experience in public lobbies.I believe Klei will address and fix these fundamental vulnerabilities.
