And instead they spawn it when the corpse drops its loot.
This is due to the fires being part of their loot, the amount of fires even gets reduced if chomped on.
It could probably simply be changed to trigger on death (probably needs to account for when loading)? Might be a good idea regardless since it's not actually loot and shouldn't be modified like loot does. It's just how it was handled since the original Don't Starve.
Even if you were to make Fire Hounds not leave a corpse, this should probably still be changed I feel, it'd just make more sense than having non-loot in the loot pool, that could be affected externally.
Regarding on them leaving a corpse or not: it can potentially be weird both ways. They drop fire, but can't be set on fire or be burned, so their corpse should remain intact even with fires around. But there's also the fact that they're seemingly combusting and spreading fires on death.
- Kill a Fire Hound in a way that their corpse mechanic gets triggered (i.e. with Crystal-Crested Buzzards around).
- Let the corpse be chomped on, or have the corpse persist reasons cleared, and see how the fires will spawn when it starts to erode instead of when the hound dies.
