Update Information:

Staying Afloat

While Wurt and Winona hammer away on their own visions for the future, it seems the Constant's sea has seen some changes of its own. Be prepared to rock the boat in the name of progress!

Highlights Include:

  • Skill Spotlight: Wurt and Winona Skillsets have been added.
  • Crab King redesign: new behaviors, minions, arena, and loot.
  • Sunken Chests: added new exclusive loot - Surprising Seeds and Archaic Boats.
  • Marotters: new creatures found on the coastline.
  • Additional Pirate Raid behavior: they can sometimes be found post-raid, carrying loot.
  • Kelp Boat Patch, signs of Powder Monkeys territory on sea stacks, new ocean set pieces, a new Pearl trade, and a new Salt Lick made of actual salt!

NOTE: It looks like Xbox certification is behind a bit and should be out in a short while. We'll have that out as soon as it completes certification, likely later today or early tomorrow.

  • They will still hit and hurt other things on the same boat like normal.

  • Increased “Message in a Bottle”'s chance to reveal a treasure hunt mark.
  • The Pirate's Bandana now also makes you turn Steering Wheels quickly.
  • Salt Formations are no longer an obstacle when fully mined (boats may go over them).
  • Slightly decreased Malbatross's attack range, boat push force and attack wave speed.
  • Made some fish and fig based crock pot dishes better.
  • Heavy ocean fish will now give an extra (or bigger) fish meat when murdered.
  • Increased Gnarwail, Malbatross  and Skittersquid spawn rates.
  • Decreased Rockjaw damage.
  • Powder Monkeys now paint Sea Stacks to show their presence.
  • Merm Kings will now buff Merms anywhere in the world, including the caves from the forest and the forest from the caves.
  • Added small waterproofness to Pirate's Bandana, Captain's Tricorn and Polly Roger's Hat.
  • Added Message in a Bottle to Crab King’s loot table.
  • Increased Strident Trident damage and uses.
  • Increased Horizon Expandinator view range.


Bug Fixes

  • Fixed not being able to feed Moon Moths inside Chester or Hutch.
  • Fixed Merm King eating veggie-type fish.
  • Fixed Horizon Expandinator sometimes not showing the on screen overlay when repeatedly equipping and unequipping the hat.
  • Fixed crops not getting protection from wildfires when watered.
  • Fixed not being able to unlock Marble Sculpture scrapbook entries.
  • Fixed some Spilagmite’s scrapbook entry issues.
  • Fixed Mosquito’s explosion damaging creatures in inventories or containers.
  • Removed unused “Grooming Station Kit” item entry from the scrapbook.
  • Fixed Gnarwail not being able to run away from threats properly.

  • Fixed world resource regeneration placing items too closely to other items.
  • Fixed Enlightened Shard light turning on when storing spores in it on the inventory or in containers.
  • Items on boats should not be destroyed when nearby ice tiles crack.
  • Fixed Crab King music playing while he is inert.


Notes for Modders

  • The mod release ID for this patch is R34_OCEANQOL_WINONAWURT.
  • Added AddEmergencyBrakeSource and RemoveEmergencyBrakeSource to boatphysics component for locking a boat’s position in place.
  • Component farmsoildrinker will now correctly send the ms_unregistersoildrinker event in its OnRemoveFromEntity.
  • Component complexprojectile now has a helper function SetHorizontalSpeedForDistance that can calculate its needed horizontal speeds to reach a set distance given the current component’s configuration values.
  • Fixed a debug string outputting incorrect data for dsp component.
  • EntityScript:GetBoatIntersectingPhysics() added to help alleviate boat intersection tests.
  • TECH_SKILLTREE_BUILDER_TAG_OWNERS in constants can be used to remove the need to save tags on characters for preloading equippable items.
  • Strident Trident will no longer damage undamageable targets.
  • Fixed unused animations blown_pst_idle and blown_pst_dead in bananabush and berrybush animations.
  • File storage_robot_common has been made more accessible.


Notes Since last Beta Hotfix

Changes

  • Exotic trees no longer grow fruits on the wrong turf.
  • Shoddy Tools, Slightly Less Shoddy Tools, Swamp Brawler Helmets and Swamp Warrior Helmets may now be deconstructed using a Deconstruction Staff.
  • Lunar Merm will revert to regular Merm when their leader dies. Shadow Merm will vanish when their leader dies.
  • Added more inspection lines for Winona when looking at skill tree craftables that are not learned yet.
  • Nearby Flowers will be uprooted when leaving behind a Rose as Winona.
  • W.I.N.bot will now switch to sleep mode if there is nothing to pickup, and reactivate when there is.  (If the player drops W.I.N.bot onto the ground in an inactive state, it will not automatically reactivate.)
  • W.I.N.bot will return to its deploy point when it is very low on battery.  It will not reactivate automatically until it has recharged at least 50% of its battery.
  • Deploying most structures will now require the same spacing whether you place the larger or smaller one first.
  • Reduced the required spacing for placing some structures.
  • Crab King geysers return, to keep the area clear before he ices up the area.


Bug Fixes

  • Fixed Exotic Tree saplings failing to grow offscreen sometimes.
  • Fixed world resource regeneration placing items too closely to other items.
  • Fixed Mutated Merms dropping too many items on death.
  • Fixed Crab Guard and Crab Knight not drowning when put to sleep while hopping from/to boats.
  • Fixed crash when giving Merm fish.
  • Fixed crash when using burnt Communal Kelp Dish.
  • The Tool Sheds, Armermrys and Communal Kelp Dishes can burn properly now.
  • The Merm King now updates his appearance if his equipment is stolen by a thief.
  • Fixed Merm working sounds when using tools.
  • Fixed Merm King buffs not forwarding to other shards during rollbacks and some loading states.
  • Fixed missing mine effect when merms with no tool equipped mine something.
  • Fixed some issues with the creation and deletion of the visual FX used by Wurt's Mudslingers.
  • Fixed Crab King music playing while he is inert.
  • Fixed a rare crash when picking up the W.I.N.bot.
  • Lunar and Shadow Merm loyalty should not expire.
  • Survivors wearing a Clever Disguise are not Merm enough to use the Communal Kelp Dish to gather followers.
  • Fixed Shadow Merms spawning when they shouldn’t.
  • Fixed W.I.N.bot and W.O.B.O.T. getting stuck ignoring a valid item to pick up in many cases.
  • Fixed the Rose-Colored Glasses being able to be equipped by other characters.
  • Fixed LEDs not lighting up when Handy Remote or Portasol are recharging.
  • Fixed missing floating states for W.I.N.bot and Portasol.
