Blue001 Posted October 19, 2018 Share Posted October 19, 2018 New Traits : Traits don't seem to be updated very often when the game gets new features that new traits could exploit. There are also no "middle ground" traits that offer a split bonus between two skills. So here are a few ideas for new traits to expand them into areas of the game. Positive Traits Swimmer : Stress is lowered when this Dupe enters water. Moves 50% faster in water. Fit as a Fiddle : Stamina Loss for this Dupe is -50% cycle (down from 70%). +1 Strength and +1 Athletics. Intelligent : They just understand how things work, go together and flow. +1 Learning, +1 Creativity, +1 Building. Animal Lover : +50% decor bonus from nearby animals for this Dupe. -2 Morale Requirement for being a Rancher/Seasoned Rancher. Friendly : +1 Extra Morale from socializing. +1 Kindness Vegetarian : Won't eat meats. +400 calories from all plant based foods. Pack Rat : Each point in Strength increases this dupes carry weight by 70kg instead of 40kg. Vertically Mobile : Gains Job experience 2x as fast. Negative Traits Hydrophobic : Doesn't like being in water or around. Being wet makes this dupe more stressed. Can not Mop. Grounded : Doesn't like the idea of being in a rocket or using a jet suit. Can't do either. Slow Climber : Climbing speed up 2 high blocks and ladders are both reduced by 50%. Paranoid : Won't interact with other dupes, +10% stress from "New Friends" effect instead of the -10%. -1 Kindness and can't "Care". Heavy Foot : Athletics is always 0. Can't Operate Manual Generators. Nyctophobia : Is afraid of the dark. +10% stress when not in light. However, -20% stress when in light. Entry Level : Can never be placed into jobs higher than tier 1. Special Unique Traits for Cool "Rare" Dupes. No other positive/negative traits allowed if they have one of these since they alter the base duplicant so much. These are rare in the means that you can't select them in the beginning, and they would likely only come up in the duplicant arch once in a play through. Clockwork : Is some kind of robot. Eats Coal, not Food. Half normal Duplicant oxygen Consumption (For system cooling), but double O2 output. Bladder is always 0%.If breath falls to 0%, does not 'suffocate', instead body temp rises.Resists cold temperatures, but increased stamina loss in heat.Always has 0 Kindness and 0 Creativity. Cannot Care or Art.Does not sleep or require a bed, instead falls to ground and "recharges" during scheduled sleep periods.Can not get sick and ignores the Decor, Stress and Morale systems. Hybrid : Is part human, part... something else?... Can breathe Oxygen and Co2, Breathes out the hydrogen. Resists hot temperatures. Error : This Duplicant formed incorrectly, +3 to all skills, but their skills can not improve over time. What you have is what you get. Leader : This duplicant reduces the stress of all nearby dupes by -20% cycle. All Dupes within 4 tiles gain +10% to all cooking/dig/build speeds. If somehow Two Leaders are present, they will attack each other on sight and can't be stopped until one is dead. New Stress Reactions : There are only 4 currently... so why not add some more? Violent : Will attack Critters on sight at 60% or more stress, and other Dupes at 100% stress. Hyperventilate : Consumes 200% more oxygen. On Strike : All Skills drop to 0 at over 60% stress. And become -3 at 100% stress. Chipper : Keep that stress internal! SMILE! +3 kindness (60% stress) +5 Kindness. (%100 stress) But keeping it all inside is tiring. 3x stamina loss and 2x calorie loss while in this state. Chaotic : Does low priority tasks first and high priority tasks last, ignores disabled priorities. At 100% stress they actively turns nearby switches and machines on and off at random. Hoarder : This Duplicant will take resources out of machines and/or storage and drop it where they sleep. At 100% stressed their carry weight capacity is increased by 200% and their athletics is increased by 50%. Hot blooded : At 60% stress, this duplicant will generate 1.5x their normal body temperature into the surrounding area. At 100% they will generate 2x their normal body temp. They are not damaged or hindered by their own heat, But other duplicants beware! New Custom Game Options : Basically, I love how Don't Starve lets you customize everything about your custom game from number of spawning resources to day lengths. Perhaps you really want a challenge or really want to play casually (without sandbox mode). Time Speed : How quickly the day passes. Critter Life Cycles : Increases or decreases max Critter living Cycles. Power Requirements : Change how much power machines require. (so on low, the Microbe Musher would only take 120 for example.) Duplicant Bladders : Change how often Dupes have to pee. Duplicant Hunger : Make them Hungrier or more Easily Sated. Random Dupes At Start : (Check Box) : Removes the ability to cycle your dupes at start, you must use the 3 provided. Always Random Duplicants : (Checkbox) Replace the "Choose New Duplicant" button when the dupe Arch lights up with a "Print Random Duplicant Now" button and bypass the Duplicant choose screen and give the player a random duplicant. Starting Food : Mad dash for food? Or are we good for a while? Could have a none option to make it really tough, even remove the ration box on that setting. New Duplicant Growth Speed : Change how often you get new dupes offered to you. View Distance : Change how close Dupes have to get to fog of war to have it get pushed back. Good to challenge players to have to explore more rather than being able to see things so easily from the start.
