Gmax
I tried to search if this suggestion was already offered, but i did not find with my search keywords... The following ideas were found by playing another excellent Klei game, Invisible.Inc, I like very much the "endless mode", that you unlock after playing around some missions (The first game that i saw a measure of the player eXPerience, hehehe). Also, by playing some of the famous "crafting games" around, i really need something different from a game of this genre... The ideas are: An asteroid is really a limited resource by definition, and they are numerous (besides very far from each other). Based on "endless mode" from Invisible.Inc, why not creating a game which main mission is hopping between asteroids, from limited resource to limited resource, until an ultimate story objective is available? No geysers at all, just to enforce what is the core aspect of the game, which i believe is resource management. Then, you can add time limits, lack of a specific resource, main objective of building a "printing pod spaceship" for colonizing other asteroids, and so on. I also need to see some love in the research system. Just using a simple "research fuel" to understand how a light bulb works, or using the same "fuel" for understand how to build advanced high-tech vacuum-proof vests, is a bit lackluster. To foster exploration and acquisition of new materials, the research should require as "research fuel" the materials used in the to-be-unlocked technologies. This last idea extends to the building materials, using multiple materials as requirement for construction. Please, keep the different characteristics of materials, in order to choose the proper materials for each situation. I personally prefer that complex tech need complex material combinations. There goes my 2 cents.
