After this amount of time, I still feel like I have only just scratched the surface of the greatness of this game. However I have been amassing a collection of ideas/changes that I would like to put here to see what the devs and community think. These posts will probably come in multiple parts as I continue to play. Please note that this post is pre-cosmos update and post ranching MK2 update. First of all, I propose a major update to the general decor of the base. It would be fantastic if the art for tiles, furniture, and machines was different based on the material used. for example, one of first things I try to do with my bases is encase the area that I want to be the "main" section with Abyssalite. It would be super useful if the tiles used for this material was purple or had some sort of cool stylized design base on the material used. Same would go for machines. knowing which machines I've built out of gold for the sake of temps would be useful. Not to mention the cosmetic aspect. Also, being able to add a background "wall" to encase rooms with would be a nice touch. Now for some mechanics/UI suggestions: 1. I've noticed that it is possible to build over top of a tile if you are changing the material it is made with. something that would be really nice to have is to make it so that the dups don't have to deconstruct something that is being changed or modified. for example, say you wanted to change the material of a water tank. you'd have to basically re-encase the whole tank with the other material or a similar micromanagement to make that happen without leaking water everywhere. Upgrading your power system from the different types of wires would another good one as the upgrade could happen without completely shutting down your power system for the upgrade process. 2. Updating machine descriptions to say if the output of a process/machine will create germs. now I know this is something that can be gleaned from experience, and my struggles may be from bugs. however, I had a lot of trouble at first figuring out if a water process will create germs as a result, like washing hands in a sink. It should be obvious, but when I first built my automatic bathroom, it didn't create germs at first. 3. Farm stations should only allow your farmers to "fertilize" the crops in the that they are built in. This is quite the frustrating one when you want to prioritize a particular type of crop but your farm comes over to the station in that room and then take the special fertilizer to the other side of the base when the other crops are. And lastly I wanted to discuss eggs. oh the eggs. I'm pretty sure this one is going to be a little on the useless side as I'm seeing that eggs are getting the ability to rot soon. however, I still want to make a few notes about them as they are in the ranching MK2 update. First of all, not having any way to tell your cook which eggs they can use for cooking is detrimental to the mechanic. Also eggs currently will hatch out of a fridge but not a ration box. wew... hope this is inspiring and useful. let me what ya'll think.
