High Capacity Pipes/Vents and Pumps & Smarter Filtering and Pumping

Recommended Posts

High Capacity Ventilation/Plumbing

I would really like to see high capacity pipes and vents in the game. I'm currently at a point in the game where I'm needed to duplicate my ventilation system to transfer more oxygen from my production facility to my living quarters, because the maximum vent capacity is 1000g per second. It would be nice to see the tech tree expanded to include more heavy duty utilities! Here's my personal wishlist:

  • 1000g/s Gas Pump
  • Higher capacity Gas Pump (Ex: 2000g/s or 5000g/s)
  • Matching High Capacity Gas Filters
  • Matching High Capacity Gas Pipes
  • Ditto for Liquid Piping/Pumping/Filtering

Smarter Filters

I think Klei developers could probably come up with something a lot cooler and more creative than I can think of, but what I would really like is a solution for filtering liquids and gasses that doesn't turn into a massive winding stack of filters and pipes. I feel like higher up the tech tree items should exist that simplify filtering elements. So for example:

  • A single filtration item that gives you the ability to filter out multiple specified elements into a single pipe
  • A single filtration item that gives you the ability to filter out multiple specified elements into separate lines

So for example for the first one, I could specify that I want the same filter to filter out polluted oxygen and oxygen into the same line. Like a 'multiple choice' filter style.

And for the second suggestion, a vertical or horizontal 6-tile large gas filtration station that has multiple gas hookups. Something like this:

  1. Input
  2. General output
  3. filtered line
  4. filtered line
  5. filtered line
  6. filtered line

Of course it would be most efficient if fed by a high capacity pipe!

Element Sensor

I would also love a sensor for liquids and gases that can sense what element it is currently submersed in, for the purposes of turning on and off pumps.

Example as to how it would be applied: lets say you have a room in your base that periodically fills up with chlorine leaking in from your doorways. the sensor would be able turn on a pump when it detects chlorine.

OR

Lets say you have a hydrogen hood on top of you electrolyzers. An element sensor would be a much better fit for turning on the pump at the tip of the hood to remove hydrogen, rather than the air pressure sensor we currently have to use.
