Isuress
Hello Klei community. I've been on and off the forums to check updates and whatnot but figured I'd make an account to post this suggestion. Almost any time I'm building tiles or setting up jobs for digging, I find that I have to manually count how many tiles I'm going to be using in the horizontal and vertical. Especially when I'm laying out rooms or planning for the future. It would be VERY helpful if some sort of measurement tool existed; similar to that of lets say RimWorld for example, as shown below. When you drag your cursor to build or do something in RimWorld, the game will put the dimensions of the box you're drawing in the center of the box. If the box is a single line, it will display the length of the line. If the box is a square or rectangle, it will display the length and width of the box. This helps dramatically when drawing out rooms. I typically try and make more space efficient or compact bases so counting tiles is somewhat important for me. If you don't plan on adding tile measurements via the jobs tools, would you consider adding a separate measurement tool? Or potentially even a Planning Tool that will lay down highlighted tiles with no jobs associated to it to help with long term planning or measurements. The display of the highlighted tiles maybe be an overlay of sorts to help lower game space/screen clutter? As you can see in the screenshot above, I like to plan out my bases ahead of time. Being able to measure a lot of things before hand makes that a lot easier. What are your thoughts on this developers?
