Can't log into Klei servers

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or had had a similar problem in the past...

So I got a new laptop, bought don't starve together under a second steam account, and tried to log in to play multiplayer.  The game loads fine on my older laptop, but the newer one spins on the "logging in" screen for a few minutes and then eventually tells me that it cannot connect to the Klei Forums.

I checked all the forum and FAQ info I could, made sure firewalls and anti-virus were disabled or made exceptions for steam and don't starve, rebooted, reinstalled...the problem does't alter.  I also contacted Klei support (on the 15th) and received a stock email asking if I had checked the existing resources.  I responded (on the 15th) but haven't heard back since.

I SUSPECT that something happened when I had don't starve send the klei registration email, because the program locked up at that point, unlike with my other computer.  I did receive the confirmation email and clicked the link, but...I don't know.  Is there a way to get that laptop to "unregister"?  I tried uninstalling and re-installing at that point, but it did not ask me to register with klei forums again.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
