Mod Creation Help

There has not been a new tutorial for mod making since 2014 that i can find, can someone either make a character mod tutorial or refer me to an up-to-date one? If you make one, it'd be great to use the art from the in-game characters because some of the ones on here use art that has a strangely shaped head or the limbs are slightly off-center.
