Suggestion "Circle of Transparency" (like in classic Ultima online)

Recommended Posts

So was wondering peoples thoughts on this.

I'm pretty sure this isn't in the game already, and nothing came up when I ran a forum search so forgive me if I have sinned.

I love the new art we have in Shipwrecked, and I really love these big new jungle trees.  However the first thing I thought when I ran through a forest trying to dodge snakes was, "wouldn't it be great if there was a circle of transparency, like Ultima Online used to have"

I never felt like my vision had been obscured by game objects before Shipwrecked, but the new trees are pretty hefty compared to anything in the game before.  I understand you can rotate the camera, but I've always tended to keep my camera fixed for a sense of direction.

I don't know how easy it would be to implement this into the game, but I thought it would work quite well in a game which I feel has many shared characteristics with the great Ultima Online.

I've attached an image which explains the COT to any people who haven't played Ultima before.  You could actually change the radius and toggle it on/off with a hotkey, which was very useful as you may not always require it to be on.

Pretty good idea. I never rotate my camera, and when I click E or Q accidentally it's like I just took my brain and flipped it 90 degrees.

Hey, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who doesn't rotate the camera. I lose all my sense of direction and then I get turned around if I don't change it back. This would be a much welcome chance for us who don't like to switch the camera.
