Or at least try to make one. You can, die (not recommended) run back, or light something on fire and stand near it to warm up. If u started in something that's NOT winter then you should make winter hats and stuff. By killing beefalo's ! My main strategy is to either make a hat or light things on fire and then rush back with food. And wood. I you can't make a torch, run back. You might make it. Whenever I get stranded in the dark I look for fireflies. Because I can't make a torch or a fire. Then I end up running through fireflies. If it's only one patch I run it, dance, run out and repeat, normally I have a fire or a torch but sometimes, you just don't. Also whenever I'm Wilfrid you can survive a really small night by having full health and wearing the warriors helmet.
