I've heard a lot of suggestions about anti-grief modifications and almost all of them compromise the player experience in some way. Simple protection being the prime example; yes, I only prefer servers with simple protection because it seems like it's the only real option, but it's bloody annoying until you have privileges.

However, when someone slips through the net and manages to grief, the only time I've felt like I've beaten the griefer is when the day is rolled back with a snapshot.

Vote kick is a good idea, but it doesn't always catch them in time. I suggest rolling back the day and snapshots should be included in the game. If a server is griefed, the host can simply go to the options menu and roll back the day; no faffing on with copying save files or resetting the server or anything like that. If a host isn't present, the other players can vote on this.

Scenario: Someone arrives and burns/hammers down the base. The other players vote to kick this person; griefer taken care of. Then, the other players vote to roll back the day. The griefer is gone and the damage is reversed. All that is lost is a days worth of work which - usually - isn't a big deal.

Obviously this might be exploited by people rolling back the day if say... A Deerclops wrecks your base. So what? There are plenty ways for a host to cheat anyway. It's a small price to pay for a solution to griefing.
