Craftable map

I have been reading through the previous posts on sharing the map and I agree that sharing the map would make it a lot easier for new players joining the server or allowing you to split up and explore the whole world quicker I am not keen on the idea of it just being automatic or joining groups which share it as this doesn't make a great deal of sense that if you team up you instantly know all areas they have been and go to even when you are apart.

 

I suggest a craftable map which uses characoal and papyrus so in a 1:3 ratio as this would allow you to share all you have explored with other players but at a cost. Though this would need a way to cache what you had explored when you crafted the map to stop it being abused by making them and not using them immediately.

I really like this.  It solves the problem of sharing map info, but in that very special "It's gonna cost you" way that makes Don't Starve so special.  I especially like that you'd have to make a new map to 'update' the information.  Always good to have another use for Papyrus, it doesn't see much use unless you're really into poultices.
